Marco Esposito is an experienced manager, optical instruments system, performance and calibration engineer, airborne campaign coordinator, business developer. He has a PhD in Aerospace Engineering in remote sensing from the University of Naples “Federico II” during which he developed a series of optical and in-situ instruments that have been operated during airborne environmental campaigns all over Europe. Having worked on various aerospace projects in Naples, most recently as coordinator of the Environmental Research Aircraft Lab of the Italian National Research Council, Marco moved to the Netherlands to work at cosine. Marco became managing director of coseno as well as Remote Sensing Business Unit Manager at cosine. Marco has been involved in a variety of research and development activities, all focusing on the miniaturization of optical instruments for Earth Observation and planetary exploration, including the development and demonstration of flight units such as ERB2, NightPod, TropOMI, MASCOT (JAXA mission Hayabusa 2) and HyperScout, the world’s first intelligent hyperspectral imager for small and micro satellites. Marco is also leading the technology developments for a variety of optical instruments including single photon counting and time of flight lidars, infrared spectrometers and imaging spectropolarimeters. Marco has experiences ranging from airborne to spaceborne applications for Earth Observation and planetary science, with a solid track record in conceiving innovative solutions for remote sensing for Earth Observation and planetary science.
